Mercedes-Benz India expects to cross 10,000 vehicle sales by year-end
Demand for cars and after sales services has increased since the second half of June 2021. The company has reportedly sold 8,958 units during the first three quarters this year. Mercedes Benz India Limited is likely to surpass the 10,000 unit sales mark this year, owing to a revival of demand and the launch of a completely new product portfolio. The German automaker has already recorded more sales in 2021 as compared to 2020 sales of 7,893 units, but lesser than its 2019 figure of 13,786 units. In Q3 2021, the company sold 4,101 units, witnessing its best quarterly sales of the year. Mercedes Benz India has reportedly sold 8,958 units between January and September 2021, which is considerably higher than its rivals BMW and Audi, which recorded 6,027 units and 2,000 units sales respectively in the same period. Martin Schwenk, the CEO and Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz India, was quoted saying that the company reported best sales in Q3 2021 despite the ongoing chip shortage and supply chain disruptions. Demand for cars and after-sales services has increased since the second half of June 2021, he added. It is worth noting here that the waiting period for some Mercedes-Benz models ranges from four months to sixteen months, with SUV buyers having to wait the longest. According to sources, Mercedes vehicles usually have a waiting period of just two weeks. Estimates say that the German luxury car manufacturer would have sold 20% more cars under normal conditions in 2021. The company unveiled 11 new models in 2021 and intends to launch two more vehicles in the fourth quarter. Mercedes-Benz India is also planning to launch a new range of electric vehicles since the government policy is favoring EVs and not hybrid models, despite a dearth of EV charging options in the country.
