IT giant Infosys set to open new digital development center in Canada
Infosys Limited has recently announced that it will set up a new digital development center at its Canadian office in Mississauga. The company intends to create over 500 jobs in the city in the upcoming years. The IT giant had committed that it would double its Canadian workforce by 2023 and hire top tech talents amidst rising demand for training and reskilling of current staff by several employers. Infosys stated that the digital development center has been established to provide proper training to the upcoming tech assets in terms of using technologically advanced solutions which can be used to facilitate digital transformation in the Canadian business sector. Furthermore, it will also help in promoting and expanding core capabilities of data science, artificial intelligence, automation, and machine learning. The center will be spread over 50,000 sq. ft and is expected to enable Infosys to collaborate with the clients more efficiently, further allowing it to bring out effective solutions to certain restraints. Confirming the news, the President of Infosys Ravi Kumar was quoted saying that the company decided to set up this new center in the Toronto region as it met all of its criteria. He added that the presence of talented techies, suitable strategies for new workplace development, and the fact that many of their clients are based in this region have further supported their decision. Kumar added that the company is elated to be supporting the region’s post-pandemic recovery. This new development would help linking private sectors to innovative research and learning centers in Canada. The digital development center is based on a similar model of six other centers in the U.S. which recruit employees from educational institutions and provide them with advanced technical training. Currently, Infosys hires graduates from more than 14 local institutions and has created at least thousands of jobs across places like Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa, among others since the past two years.
