Flipkart is reportedly launching a separate marketplace model named Flipchart Xtra to provide flexible earning opportunities to technicians and service agents, especially to those seeking part-time employment.
According to reliable sources, the new platform will also help in enhancing the company’s supply chain and ensuring faster shipment deliveries to customers.
Flipkart will provide a seamless onboarding experience to interested individuals which will require them to download the ‘Flipkart Xtra’ app from the Google Play Store and share information for background verification.
Individuals will then be able to apply for various roles such as delivery executives, technicians, or service partners. This launch comes ahead of Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days’ sale as well as the festive season, thus helping the company in providing access to additional earning opportunities to service agencies, technicians, and delivery executives across India.
Hemant Badri, Senior VP and Head of Supply Chain at Flipkart reportedly said that the organization is committed to creating value for all stakeholders including artisans, MSMEs, customers, and kiranas. This program is a new disruption in the gig economy space and will provide alternate income sources to people meanwhile contributing to the country’s economic recovery, he added.
The Flipkart Xtra app allows partners to sign up from anywhere and choose their preferred schedule to deliver shipments. It is an extension of the company’s alternate delivery models which also includes the Flipkart Kirana program.
Back in the 2020 festive season, Flipkart Kirana had successfully fulfilled 10 million shipments, the company claimed. This time, the Bangalore-based e-commerce company aims to employ 4,000 part-time employees through Flipkart Xtra till December 2021.
In related news, Myntra is also planning to expand its Kirana Network to 25,000 stores and hire 11,000 staff for customer support and last-mile delivery services ahead of the upcoming ‘Big Fashion Festival’.
