ArcTern invests in Terramera to boost sustainable farming practices
Terramera closed the funding round with USD 48.5 million with other investors including S2G ventures, Ospraie Ag Science The investment marks ArcTern’s fourth financing from its USD 200 million value Fund II Vancouver headquartered sustainable agriculture technology startup Terramera has reportedly raised investment from Canada’s prominent cleantech fund entity, ArcTern, in an extended Series B round. S2G Ventures and Ospraie Ag Science also participated in the round and the total funding raised was US$48.5 million. For the record, the agriculture tech startup is developing novel technologies to change the way food is grown and disrupt the economics of agriculture. With the help of Actigate™ - a targeted performance technology, the company aims at constantly reducing the synthetic pesticide load across the globe by close to 80% by 2030. Arc Tern aims at investing in innovative and advanced clean technology firms that address the problems associated with climate change and promote sustainability. The bio platform approach of ArcTern Ventures which combines science with data collection and nature supported its latest investment in Terramera. The new approach carries the potential to positively affect the farming practices which not only help in enhanced farm operations in terms of water, use of pesticides and nutrients but also supplement the use of regenerative agricultural methods.
