Advocate Aurora Health in talks over partnership with Beaumont Health

By Mateen Dalal

Advocate Aurora Health, one of the leading health systems in the U.S., has been in talks with Beaumont Health to explore the potential of a future partnership. Reportedly, both organizations inked a non-binding letter of intent after gaining the Boards of Directors’ approval. This letter of intent would pave the path for a deeper discussion centered around creating a prominent health care system that would cover regions like Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.

According to executive leaders from both firms, the partnership talks are still in its initial stages. This move will enable both non-profit health providers to align and strengthen their goals of catering to the needs of families, communities, and individuals throughout the Upper Midwest.

Evidently, these discussions between Beaumont and Advocate Aurora began at the end of 2019, but they had to pause the partnership talks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the move, John Fox, Chief Executive Officer and President, Beaumont Health, said that the company is thrilled to explore partnership options with such a highly regarded organization. Advocate Aurora Health is renowned for its exceptional track record in population health, consumer experience, and health outcomes.

Moreover, the potential to leverage the scale and strength of a regional enterprise like Advocate Aurora while maintaining a strong presence and local focus in Michigan as a major employer and leader is pivotal for Beaumont Health, added Fox.

As for Jim Skogsbergh, Chief Executive Officer and President, Advocate Aurora Health, Beaumont Health has managed to create a strong reputation for itself in clinical education, research, and excellence. This comes as a unique opportunity for the company to explore the potentials of doing business with a purpose-driven, like-minded organization.

Prior to this news, Advocate Aurora Health had made headlines when it announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement with the Carle health system to acquire Advocate Eureka Hospital and Advocate BroMenn Medical Center along with all other affiliated sites located in Central Illinois.
