Pivotal acquires Akcelis to accelerate clinical development procedure

Pivotal, a full-service contract research organization (CRO), has reportedly acquired Akcelis BVBA, one of the leading players in patient recruitment, engagement, and retention, to offer its existing and future clients with patients’ recruitment expertise.

Sources cite that this acquisition would enable Pivotal to leverage Ackelis’ experience in recruiting and retaining unique patients in hard-to-recruit clinical trials across many therapeutic areas. The company would utilize Akcelis analytics-driven services to manage patients´ recruitment lifecycle, from enrollment, recruitment to retention.

These services would utilize proprietary, innovative, and highly predictive software analytics to tailor the most effective and cost-efficient approach to recruit patients for clinical trials.

Lidia Farr, VP, Corporate Development and Finance, Pivotal, said that this acquisition is in line with the company’s commitment to bring innovation to the clinical development process to offer efficiencies for its clients.

Farr added that Akcelis would bring proprietary, cutting-edge analytics-driven technology, and services to tailor the most cost-effective and efficient approach to enhance site selection and patients’ enrollment & retention strategy for clinical trials. The company is pleased to welcome Akcelis to be part of Pivotal’s solution-oriented culture and help novel drug development to enhance patients’ lives.

In a joint statement, Nathalie Niclaus and Barbara D’haene, Founders and Managing Directors, Akcelis, said that their patient-focused approach to fuel recruitment, integrated with Pivotal’s expertise in clinical research, is a winning combination for patient-friendly and scientifically elegant clinical trials.

The company is looking forward to supportively impacting Pivotal’s clinical research landscape by incorporating cutting edge digital patient recruitment strategies.

For the record, Pivotal is facilitating cutting-edge development programs with medical devices, IMPs, diagnostics, and nutrition products. With this acquisition, the company will significantly improve its offerings to achieve promising results.
